Edinburgh Come to know this regal city on a locally guided tour that includes the Royal Mile, Old Town, Grassmarket, and the Scottish Parliament. See the Palace of Holyroodhouse* before touring the imposing Edinburgh Castle, home of the Scottish Crown Jewels. This afternoon, enjoy free time to independently explore the city - browse the shops, meet the friendly locals or relax at afternoon tea. (B)

Edinburgh - St. Andrews - Pitlochry - Edinburgh

Next, stop at Pitlochry, a vibrant Victorian town. Discover its Old World appeal as you explore this popular resort town on your own. Edinburgh - York, England - Depart Edinburgh for a scenic train ride through the Scottish Borders.
Soak up rolling hills, emerald forests, picturesque villages and sweeping coastlines as you make your way south of York. Arrive in York, England's iconic medieval city. Join a local expert on a stroll through the city's historic streets. Walk on the Shambles, a quaint, narrow street that appears today almost as it did in the Middle Ages. York - Castle Howard - Helmsley - York
Venture to Yorkshire's breathtaking countryside. Visit Castle Howard**, a magnificent 18th-century estate set on more than 1,000 acres of land. Continue on to the quaint market town of Helmsley. Enjoy time to peruse its local shops and famed teahouses before heading back to York for an afternoon at leisure. (B)

York - London
Board your train, then sit back and relax en route to England's sophisticated and bustling capital city of London. Be greeted by a local expert who leads you on a panoramic tour. See Trafalgar Square, St. Paul's Cathedral, the Tower of London, and Buckingham Palace, the London home to Britain's royalty since 1837. At Westminster, see the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, and Big Ben. Tonight enjoy dinner at a traditional English pub. (B, D)

London - Enjoy a full day to explore London on your own. Or, perhaps you'll choose to join an optional excursion to Oxford and Blenheim Palace: tour the quaint city of Oxford and learn about its famous university; you'll even see the college where Harry Potter was filmed! Continue on to Blenheim Palace, one of England's most magnificent homes; enjoy a private tour of this UNESCO World Heritage site and learn about one of its most famous residents - Sir Winston Churchill. Day 9: Sunday, October 22, 2017
London - Windsor - London
Travel outside of the city to glorious Windsor Castle. Originally built to guard the city of London, Windsor Castle has been the home of kings and queens for nine centuries and is the oldest royal residence still in use today. This evening, join your fellow travelers for a farewell dinner at a local restaurant and toast the end of a wonderful journey. (B, D)

To complete your tour, we include roundtrip airport-to-hotel transfers when purchasing our airfare with your tour. If you have arranged for your own air, we are pleased to provide you the option of purchasing these transfers. Please note that all transfers will leave at prescheduled times.
Passengers arriving in Edinburgh from August 4-26, 2017 will receive tickets to Edinburgh's famous Military Tattoo show on Day 3.
* The PAlace of Holyroodhouse may occasionally be closed when the Queen is in residence or for official state functions.
** Castle Howard is open seasonally and may be closed for select winter departures. When it is not available, guests will enjoy a tour of the York Minster.
This tour includes moderate physical activity. The itinerary blends some longer days with shorter days and more leisure time. Walking tours, as well as walking slightly longer distances, up stairs or on uneven walking surfaces should be expected.
